I have been incarcerated 17 years and I got into the cultura because I seen it as part of "prison" cultura. I was hearing it, listening to people discuss the history and some meanings behind specific tattoos. My short term goals are to get out of prison and while I am here, create a lot artwork. I also want to continue writing cultura in my journal. I have a nice beautiful leatherbound journal that I am writing the history of the Mexica in. My long term goal is to open up a tattoo shop. Tattooing and inkpen drawings are some of my best talents. My Nahuatl level is "beginner," but I am getting a lot better with pronunciations. I just go by breaking down the syllables.
