Mexica Tonalli- Mayra Sigala- CDC#WH2477

The day of the Mexica Tonalli event, dancers came to the prison. I experienced something that I never felt before and it was --Joy-Serenity-and Peace.

Emotional tears ran down my face as we all came together and sang. What I liked about it was all the information they provided us about the history of the Mexica.

I like that there is a meaning behind every dance. Their regalia was beautiful and so were the feathers they wore on their heads. After danza, we enjoyed a very good meal together and the food was amazing.

I feel like the event help me have more knowledge about the culture. I am very interesting in learning more about the calendar, language, history, and discipline. I would like an overall understanding of how they survived over hundreds of years ago
